New Member Area

Welcome New Members! This section is intended to help you get better acquainted with the Club. As you get acclimated, please let us know if there are any additions to this area that would help future "newbies".

New Members:  Helpful Hints!

What to expect on your first visit to NSC:

1.  Enter the club house through the main doors and proceed to the smiling staff member at the computer.  Be prepared to give your member number.  If you have not had your picture taken, (last year's will be fine for returning members) NSC staff will take your family picture, if all members are present.  Each time you enter the club and sign in, the staff will check your picture on the computer.

2.  At this time your coolers and/or picnic baskets can be checked for glass containers.  Everyone likes to walk barefoot and glass can be hazardous to tender feet!

3.  As you enter the club, turn left for the picnic areas or turn right to find a comfortable lounge chair on the deck!  Hint:  Pull Up on the knob on top of the gate, then push open. Remember...only water is allowed on deck.  All food and beverages must be consumed off the pool deck.

4.  Looking for picnic tables?  We have 16 large tables under the pavillion!  Pick a table and set up your stuff. It is sometimes breezy, so be sure to weigh down light items.  We also have tables located outside the pavillion and around the pool toward the back field.

5.  Can't find the locker rooms?  You can enter both locker rooms from the deck.  The ladies is located to the left of the clock and the men's is around the left corner of the building, past the ladies locker room. You can also access the locker rooms from the club house, but please dry off before entering the club house.

6.  We just installed a new patio with benches to go with our brand new grills!  So load up that cooler and meet new friends on the patio as you grill!

7.  Still have the munchies?  Check out our snack bar for lots of great treats!

General Information

The Club is owned by the members. The Board of Directors is elected by the members to represent the general membership and coordinate the running of the club. The Club Managers are hired to manage the staff and the daily operations of the club during the summer. The staff consists of lifeguards and snack bar staff. If you know anyone who would be a good candidate for our staff, have them mail a resume to the club; however, we don't hire anyone from our members' families.

There are dues that must be paid by March 31st each year, along with an annual fee for capital improvements, and an annual work fee. You can get the work fee refunded to you by working at least 4 hours at one of the scheduled work days. Even if you are going to work the hours, you still need to pay the work fee in March and get it refunded to you in June (this helps reduce late fees and billing issues).

Newsletters are mailed in March, May, & September, and available in the clubhouse in June, July, & August. These are a great source of information about the club, and the web site often contains updates to that information.

Stuff for Kids

There are swim lessons offered each summer. The sessions are offered three times each season. Sign-ups are organized so children who didn't get into one session get first priority for the next session. The session schedule is provided in a pre-season newsletter and the website.

The Newburgh Sharks Swim Team is a great opportunity for kids to get started with organized swimming in a low-pressure environment. The season lasts about 6 weeks, from mid-June through the end of July. There are 8 dual meets (4 home and 4 away), and an end-of-season League Meet.

There are a number of events planned each summer for kids, ranging from preschool parties to teen parties. Check the web site and newsletters for details.

Stuff for Adults

There are some adult-only social activities, including the Adult Party one evening during the summer.

Stuff for Everyone

Some social events are for the whole family. One notable event is our Independence Day Celebration, with activities for the whole family. Due to the popularity of this event, we do not allow any guests in the club during the celebration.
